Join the Meyerholz/CLIP-Miller SAN FRANCISCO CHINESE NEW YEAR PARADE TEAM
Year of the Dog 2018 Parade Day is Saturday, Feb. 24th.  We march rain or shine!

Open to Meyerholz students in grades 1 - 5 and CLIP-Miller students


INFORMATION MEETING (parents & students): Friday, Dec. 15, 3:10 - 3:40pm in the Meyerholz GLC. We will explain this year’s performance as well as student and parent expectations.


REGISTER: online from Sun., Dec 10 through Mon., Jan. 8 at 8pm You MUST register to attend the audition/practices. Unfortunately, parade officials limit team sizes, so registration does not guarantee a spot on the team.


AUDITION: Fri., Dec. 15 from 3:40 - 4:30pm in the Meyerholz GLC. Final team selections will be announced by Monday January 8, 2018.


PRACTICE DATES: times are from 3:10 - 4:45pm in the Meyerholz GLC. • Fri., Jan. 5*, 12, and 19 • Fri., Feb. 2, 9 and 16 • Parade Day is Sat., Feb. 24. Please note this is the last Saturday of the mid winter school break. *For Jan 5 Practice/Audition will be held if needed.


ASSISTANCE: Parent assistance is expected. We need help with costumes, props, running practices, chairing committees, fundraising, and parade-day chaperones. Note: Fingerprinting and TB clearance required for chaperones and on-site volunteers.


DONATION REQUEST: $45/participant for costumes, materials and bus transportation. Insufficient donations may result in the parade team being cancelled.

Volunteer Spotlight - Alan Fong

My name is Alan Fong - I have a seasonal wholesale/ distributing company selling ski and snowboard apparel. For the rest of the year I am also a Commercial real estate agent dealing in commercial leases and property managing.  Due to my flexible schedule I am fortunate to spend as much time as I can with my son who is in 1st grade here at Meyerholz/CLIP, as well as his numerous activities. You may see me around campus here often because I am also a substitute teacher for the CUSD as I primarily sub for Meyerholz and occasionally for John Muir. Congrats to Lyria and Ray Zhu - Winners in the Beijing 13th National Youth Talent TV Show

Congratulations to two of our CLIP students, 7th grader Lyria Zhu and 4th grader Ray Zhu.  Both Lyria and Ray went to Beijing this summer to compete in two national contests.   One contest is the 4th Huayun Cup National Mandarin Speech Contest. Lyria's solo speech ‘Rain of  Osmanthus Flowers (桂花雨) ’ won 1st place - champion of all international groups which includes competitors from six countries. The other contest is the 13th National Youth Talent TV show, and both Lyria and Ray were members in a group performance (dancing, speech, and magic combo show).  Ray and Lyria gave speeches in Chinese.   The group was granted the  'Gold Award' by the referee committee. Qing Zhu, Ray and Lyria's father, says, "We are so grateful that Meyerholz, Miller and CLIP has been providing excellent bilingual education and resources for Ray and Lyria! And we so proud to be part of this community!" Congrats to Ray and Lyria! We're proud of you!
