My name is Connie Chan AKA Mrs. Chan. I was born in Fuzhou, China and grew up in Hong Kong. My family moved to the U.S. when I was in middle school. I stayed in Sacramento, CA with my parents until I went to UC Berkeley for college. I loved the Bay Area so much that I stayed here after I graduated. After being a first grade teacher in the Fremont Unified District for three years, I went to China to teach English and worked on my TESOL degree. I spent a year in Shangdong and another year in Shanxi. After returning from the two-year assignment, I ended up at Meyerholz teaching first grade again. On Friday, June 1, 2018, CLIP celebrated its 5th grade and 8th grade promotion ceremony, at Miller Middle School.  Sixty 8th graders from the CLIP Miller program received plaques from Principal Amy Steele and Assistant Principal Alvin Marquez.  Sixty-six 5th graders also received certificates from Assistant Principal Ann Mitchell and their 5th grade teachers Ms. YinYin Pao and Ms. Bianca Mueller.  Over 450 attendees came to the celebration, including parents, former teachers, Superintendent Craig Baker and CUSD Board Member Kristin Lyn. The 5th grade graduates performed two lovely songs with choreography, and our 8th grade students treated the audience to a swing dance show and student-produced music videos.  The ceremony ended with a lion dance performance from a lion dance troupe comprised of all CLIP alumni who are currently in high school and middle school.  A big thank you to the Graduation Celebration committee, chaired by Annie Wu and Stephan...

A big congratulations to our two CLIP Destination Imagination teams, who just returned from the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville last week.  Both teams placed in the Top Ten in each of their divisions! Congrats to Meyerholz CLIP team Phantom Piggies, Yvonne, Ryan, Justin, Annie, Naoka, Derek and Nathan! They competed against over 80 teams from across the country and world in the Elementary school level competition and tied for 8th place overall!   And congrats to the Miller CLIP team Creativity.exe, James, Gilford, Colin, Erin and Samantha!  They also competed against over 80 international and U.S. teams at the middle school level and won 1st place in the Instant Challenge and placed 10th overall!   Congrats to both our teams! You make us proud!

Congratulations to CLIP 5th grade student Zoey Lim, who was selected as one of the winners for the Santa Clara County Office of Education's Artspiration Young Artist Showcase.  Zoey submitted a foil art project that she completed as part of the 5th grade CLIP Art curriculum.  Her art piece is titled, "Ballet".  Congrats, Zoey, you make us proud!

My name is Alan Fong - I have a seasonal wholesale/ distributing company selling ski and snowboard apparel. For the rest of the year I am also a Commercial real estate agent dealing in commercial leases and property managing.  Due to my flexible schedule I am fortunate to spend as much time as I can with my son who is in 1st grade here at Meyerholz/CLIP, as well as his numerous activities. You may see me around campus here often because I am also a substitute teacher for the CUSD as I primarily sub for Meyerholz and occasionally for John Muir. Meyerholz/Miller Clip participated in this years Chinese New Year Parade on Feb 24th, 2018. The kids did a wonderful job as the weather was briskly cold but no rain. Unfortunately, we did not get any TV time this year, as the camera crews cut to interview and commercial, although you could see a glimpse of our team in the back! This year's theme and Story was that of a dog that becomes a prince by saving a princess with a terrible skin ailment. Hence becoming the first people/settlers of Bulan near the southern part of Taiwan. In our marching troupe this year were two guards, the main princess, and a dog who wore a beautiful custom-made two-person dog costume made by our own Clipco board member Jon Campbell.  We cannot thank him enough for another year of creating another masterpiece.  The dog was followed by 12 jr princesses which comprised mostly of 1st thru 3rd graders who wore beautiful blue dresses to go along with our theme/story. Congratulations to the two CLIP teams who competed last weekend at the Silicon Valley Destination Imagination Regional Tournament!  Both teams won first place in their respective categories!  The Meyerholz CLIP team, "Phantom Piggies" competed and won 1st Place in the Improvisational Challenge for Elementary Level.  The Miller CLIP Team, "Creativity.exe" competed and won 1st Place as well in the Improvisational Challenge for Middle School Level.  Both teams had to research different cultures and explorers, and create and present an improvisational skit about a quest to return a lost cultural treasure to its owner. Teams who win 1st or 2nd place advance onto State Tournament, to be held in April in Clovis, CA.  Good luck to our two teams, you make us proud!
